Mission Trips Testimonials

This week our youth group partnered with City Connexx. I loved the experience and will never forget it. We made lunches for the homeless, then gave them out in the park in front of the capital. We prayer walked the parks and downtown on 16th Street. We helped the church with painting, organizing, and working the food bank. I was able help out with the PowerPoint for the cheer ministry going on here. After working on that me and two girls had the chance to attend one of the cheerleading practices. We fell in love with those girls! They do devotions with the girls and share the love of Jesus with them and their families. The coaches are strictly volunteer, so please pray for them. It is hard to keep coaches since they're not being payed. CityConnexx really had us engage the community and share God's love. This week has been amazing in so many different ways. Being able to help different ministries around the city has really showed me that this community is a lot like our own, and I think that my whole youth group feels the same way. We have seen and learned so many things this week, and have grown closer to each other and closer to God. Not only have we helped Denver over this trip, but I think we have helped our community back home. The things we learned and the emotions that we have felt will not be forgotten, and we will never be able to look at the people in our community the same way again.

This week i learned a lot about Christ and myself. Being on this mission trip has definitely reminded me that there are so many things i still want to do in life and so many ways i still need to serve the Lord. I've become closer with the people in my youth group and stronger in my walk with Christ. It was good to sacrifice my spring break to help others. Making Jesus smile, makes me smile. :)

This week has been AMAZING! Watching our youth grow closer to God by serving the people of Compton is one of the greatest things I could have ever asked for. We have been doing everything from cleaning and fixing bleachers to painting and rearranging rooms. It is a mental work out as well as a physical one. We have had the opportunity to talk to many of the people who come to The Salvation Army on a regular basis (many of which are FULL of questions). This week will go down as one of my favorite weeks serving as a youth leader!

Our trip to Compton has been absolutely amazing. God is working and we can see his hand each day. God has given us this opportunity to serve and it has made an impact in the lives here but our lives as well. God has given us all abilities and gifts and it is blessing to be able to work for the Kingdom of God.
