Compassion International

From 1973 thru 2002, Compassion International worked with local churches in poor neighborhoods to impact the lives of Children and Youth. In 2000, Dean Cowles was asked to lead this unique ministry with his extensive experience in building urban church ministries. With the USA ministry growth potential and Compassion's identity tied to worldwide child sponsorship, the decision was made to launch the USA ministry into a separate organization, allowing it to better focus on reaching these USA communities.

So, with Compassion's support, start up funds, and continued endorsement YouthPartnersNET was birthed July 1, 2003. Rev. Cowles was selected to lead this new organization as President in order to continue to build on the integrity, history, and values Compassion has embraced over the past three decades.

Today YouthPartnersNET focuses on Networking, Education and Training (NET) in raising up urban and Native American leaders, in support of children and youth in America’s most high risk communities. YouthPartnersNET and CityConnexx (its mission’s arm) provide year round support to these ministry partners.

About Compassion International

Sponsoring children in need is breaking the cycle of poverty

Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.

Founded by the Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training.

Today, Compassion helps more than 1 million children in 25 countries.

A passion for children
