History of CityConnexx
YouthPartnersNET (parent organization) was launched by Compassion International in 2003 in order to continue Compassion’s work in the US since 1973. YPN provides our national network of frontline ministries with Networking, Equipping & Education, and Training for leadership and practical needs in America’s inner city and Native American communities.
In 2005 YPN partnered with Lifeway and M-Fuge to start urban missions summer trips in Chicago called UrbanConnexx. The things we learned over those summers in Chicago gave birth to a nation wide custom designed mission experience we now call CityConnexx.
In 2007 CityConnexx was launched with a start up grant and on-going support by Compassion as a grassroots effort to meet the growing need to create direct relationships and collaboration between urban, suburban, rural and Native American communities. Through a wide variety of available services ranging from after school tutoring, sports camps, internships and providing volunteers to our embedded ministry partners, CityConnexx has helped train urban youth leaders and facilitate the start of many of these “best practices” programs.
CityConnexx is a very hands on practical way for your group to get personal and relational with a local ministry that matches your gifts and talents. Over these past several years CityConnexx groups have grown 25% per year. Millions of dollars of volunteer time and hundreds of thousands of dollars of direct assistance have been generated for our partners around the US through CityConnexx mission teams. Your registration fees not only provide lodging, meals, programs, staffing during your week but part of each registration goes towards the year-round programs of the ministry you partnered with.
