In 2003 Compassion International launched our organization to better serve urban and Native American ministries serving at-risk children and youth in America. Our Executive Director Rev. Dean Cowles was Compassion’s USA Ministry Director at the time and took on the challenge of reorganizing Compassion’s USA division to better reflect the unique ministry opportunities and model of serving our ministry partners in America.
We are so thankful to Compassion who has been a key sponsor and supporter of this ministry. We continue Compassion’s focus on holistic development of persons and communities who experience systemic marginalization.
In the last 15 years CityConnexx has connected well over 6000 persons with ministries in marginalized neighborhoods in the United States. Resulting in over $450,000 directly invested in ministry at the margin. Further, the IRS calculates the dollar value of volunteer hours at over $4,000,0000!
While the numbers are impressive, the real value of connecting across culture cannot be measured in dollars and cents. Rather, CityConnexx measures its credibility by the lives impacted as people bridge social difference in order to promote the well-being of the marginalized communities!
May the Lord continue to bless Compassion and CityConnexx in the years ahead.
